Holiday update

I haven’t had much of a holiday yet. Even though I haven’t been doing much work or study, it feels like I have been. I am also stressed out about everything that is waiting for me when I return to Australia (well not quite everything :) ). Not doing much other than eating, drinking and working on the skin cancer.

Today I finished reading a book called ONE NO, MANY YESES by Paul Kingsnorth. It would have to be the best book on the global resistance movement that I have ever read and will no doubt change my life and the way I go about consuming. If any have ever though that the was of the world are not quite right, or you just want to know what all these anti-globalisation (a bad name in my opinion) people are on about, then you should read this book. Another world is possible.

Today was also the first big day of the Festa Major in Sitges. The events today included a street parade with lots of music and dancing typical to the area. At 11pm they had a 30-minute fireworks display and certainly puts anything I have seen anywhere else to shame. The fact that we have a perfect view of it from the terrace at mumīs apartment helps. I saw the fireworks here in 1994. However, apparently that was not a good year as the fireworks factory caught on fire and exploded only a month earlier. At 6am, I will be woken by the sound of crazy drunken people running down the streets with dragons covered in fireworks. Sounds like i’m tripping? Take a look at these photos from a similar festival last year.

Tomorrow the family and I are off to a hotel near the coast north of Barcelona. Check it out. Should be a good opportunity to get away from computer. I am also going to try and stop smoking. Still can’t believe that I started again.

I guess that’s it for now. Nothing too deep and meaningless for you :)
