Moroccan Wedding

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

I have come to the conclusion that in general, Moroccans are incredibly friendly and generous people (assuming money isn’t involved which is really a topic for another blog post). After enthusiastically participating in their annual lamb sacrifice, I was invited to see another part important part of Moroccan culture, a traditional wedding. (more…)

An accident waiting to happen

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

Everyone is talking about the incident that happened on Big Brother early Saturday morning.  I am honestly surprised that it has taken so long for something like this to happen. Many in the Christian Right are calling for the show to be axed. While I wouldn’t usually agree with these crazies, they do kind of have a point (except for that whacker Steve Fielding who was too busy focusing on tits and bums to notice the really bad aspects of big brother). The TV show is hardly a worthwhile social experiment that many of its supporters claim it is.

Empathy Pete
is defending the governments financial support of the show:

…And frankly I’m sick of the sort of American crap we get on our television every night and I don’t mind seeing a little bit of Australian rubbish – it can’t be any worse than the sort of American rubbish we see.

I have a solution that could keep both the Christians who want the world rid of Big Brother, and the rest of us, who would like to protect our right to watch trashy television happy. Get rid of Big Brother and bring back another classic Queensland television show, Pacific Drive. Those lesbian scenes with Libby Tanner were really hot!
